About Us
James Scougall Agricultural Spraying Specialists is an independent, family run business near Abernyte which was started by Jim Scougall in the early 1970s with his wife and business partner Kay. Together they built up a successful and well-respected business based on a reputation for agronomy knowledge, spraying experience, independent advice and good customer relationships.
His son-in-law, Mungo Howat joined the business in 2010 and is a partner alongside Kay and his wife Joy. Between them they have taken on the business in Jim’s name since 2013, expanded the business and built on the same values and customer service which an independent family run business can provide.
Mungo is a fully qualified agronomist and holds the BASIS certificate of competence. He is a member of the BASIS Professional Register and keeps up-to-date with the latest technical data and advice through continual professional development and technical meetings. He is a member of NRoSO (National Register of Spray Operators) and keeps up-to-date with all the current regulatory requirements. He is able to offer specialist and independent agronomy advice, contract application and chemical supply.
Joy manages the office and deals with all the administration as well as being a delivery driver and helping out where needed! She is also responsible for the stores and holds a BASIS storekeeper certificate.
We employ two full-time spraying operator as well as seasonal sprayer staff. All our operators hold the required certificates of competence and are members of NRoSO – a central register of sprayer operators who must complete ongoing training as a means of ensuring their competence.
We are available for other other contract, labour and tractor hire, outwith our busy spraying season.
